State Parks

Fort Macon State Park

A pre-Civil War-Era fort with history dating back to the early 1700's. There is also a great beach here but be careful of strong rip currents and tides. Rock jettie for fishing.

NC Aquarium Pine Knoll Shores

Newly renovated aquarium houses the fish that you can't catch with a pole. Also has a nice outdoor nature trail through the estuary. Bring plenty of bug spray and a hat.
